HYDE PARK — The Stony Island Arts Bank will host a series of movies with a connection to architecture and the African Diaspora as part of the Chicago Architectural Biennial.
The series starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday with a screening of “Hyenas” at the art center, 6760 S. Stony Island Ave.
The movie by Senegalese filmmaker Djibril Diop Mambety is a commentary on life after colonialism in Africa through the story of an amusement park and the “consumerist orgy” that follows, as the art center puts it.
The series continues with “Suite Habana” on Nov. 17 and another film yet to be announced on Dec. 15.
The screening is free, but guests are encouraged to RSVP because space is limited.
