WRIGLEYVILLE — Looking back now, Chicago Cubs rookie Kris Bryant has definitely lived up to the hype.

Back in April, though, fans weren't sure. The overall attitude toward the revamped Cubs was to proceed with caution, and that extended to the new third baseman.

Yet one Cubs fan had no doubt Bryant would help launch the team into story book success, so he shared a poem he presumably penned called "Twas the Night Before Bryant" on Reddit's baseball sub April 16 — the night before Bryant's debut at Wrigley Field.

From the mind of Reddit user weezermc78:

When out on the diamond there rose such a clatter
I sprang from my seat to see the next batter
Away from the plate the ball flew away with a flash
That ball landing on to Waveland, absolutely smacked.
The sun in the sky with the grass' greenish glow
Kris has finally made it to the show
When from my eyes what object shall appear
At third base our prospect, and our destiny was clear

The "Night Before Christmas" parody was deemed "absolutely beautiful" in April by one reader on the baseball subreddit, but revisiting it in October really kicks Cubbies in the feels.

Weezermc78 has continued to spread his Cubs love on Reddit through the season, posting on Monday that 97 wins "seemed like an insane pipe dream."

"I love the enthusiasm the club brought to the game. Whatever happens on Wednesday, I am damn proud of my Cubs."
