Ald. Pawar Hosting Series of Budget Town Halls in 47th Ward

NORTH CENTER — Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th) will host a series of town hall meetings to discuss Mayor Rahm Emanuel's proposed 2016 budget.

On the table: a $543 million increase in property taxes, the privatization of 311, ride-hailing surcharges and a new fee for garbage collection, among other line items.

Residents will have the opportunity to learn more about budget specifics and to provide feedback.

The town halls are scheduled for:

• 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Retirement Community, 4950 N. Ashland Ave.

• 7 p.m. Thursday at Lake View High School, 4015 N. Ashland Ave. (enter through Door 6 on Ashland)

• 1 p.m. Oct. 15 North Center Senior Satellite Center, 4040 N. Oakley Ave.
