LINCOLN PARK — Plans to demolish The Inn at Lincoln Park and replace it with a new hotel are still alive.

The company that owns the property, LVM Group, will present a revised proposal for the hotel at 601 W. Diversey Parkway to the community next week. The meeting is set for Tuesday in the main reception hall at Elks National Veterans Memorial, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave., at 6:30 p.m., Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) wrote in an email to constituents.

The modified proposal calls for a nine-story hotel with ground-level retail, 143 hotel rooms and 75 parking spaces, which is 23 more than the initial proposal.

Expect other updates, including adding a loading zone mechanism to the rear of the building, modifying the building's facade and redesigning the retail base, according to the email.

The hotel was built in 1918 and has 71 rooms.

According to Smith, the proposal is a "significant" reduction from a previous planned development that was approved in 2004.

During the first public meeting to discuss the plans in December, neighbors of the site raised a number of issues including congestion due to increased traffic, a lack of parking in the neighborhood and the aesthetics of the hotel.
