IRVING PARK — A man was robbed and beaten in Horner Park Sunday night, according to police.

The 49-year-old man was sitting in the park, 2741 W. Montrose Ave., when he was approached by two men about 8 p.m., said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The men asked for a cigarette and then began hitting the victim. They took his bike, phone, wallet and keys before running off, Sedevic said.

The victim went to a Brown Line station, where a CTA employee called 911, Sedevic said. The man was treated for cuts and bruises at Swedish Covenant Hospital and released, she said.

The robbers were described as black men about 20 years old. One was wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts, the other was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue shorts.
