ROSCOE VILLAGE — Welcome to Book Riot's Book Club.

The first rule of book club is: read harder. The second rule of book club is: you DO talk about books.

And ... that's as far as we can take this parody.

For anyone who's ever wanted to join a book club but doesn't want to be told what to read (*cough* "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" *cough*), Book Riot's "Read Harder" book club is just the ticket.

The group meets once a month and there's no required reading. Talk about the book you just finished, ask for recommendations of what to pick up next or chart your progress toward "Read Harder" goals, which are really just a set of suggested challenges to get you to read outside your comfort zone.

The club is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, RoscoeBooks, 2142 W. Roscoe St.
