JEFFERSON PARK — A new church will savor the last rays of the summer sun with a community block party on the last weekend of summer.

The Branch Community Church, 6125 W. Foster Ave., will host the block party in its parking lot from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, organizers said.

The free party will feature hot dogs, chips, snow cones, cotton candy, games and music, church officials said.

"We're a church for families," said lead pastor Robbie deMarigny. "We want to be a place where kids and parents can enjoy spending time with each other, and where folks in the neighborhood love to visit."

The Branch Community Church formed in January after North Maine Community Church and Northwest Fellowship Baptist Church merged.
