LAKEVIEW — With a $500 million property tax hike on the horizon and a wave of summer crime in Lakeview, let's take a moment in the sunshine and read some good news:

Cubs Lighting Up The Block: As part of its annual $500,000 contribution to Wrigleyville neighbors, the Chicago Cubs are paying for new street lights. Blocks receiving the new lamps are the 3200 and 3600 blocks of Sheffield Avenue, the 3200 block of Wilton Avenue, the 900 block of School Street and the 1100 block of Patterson Avenue. The CubFund was established in 2004 and has supported traffic lights and other neighborhood improvement projects, with plans to contribute an additional $3.75 million through 2023.

Center on Halsted Tackles Cyberbullying: In partnership with AT&T, the Center on Halsted announced the launch of Digital You, a program to help teens, parents and seniors deal with safety and security online. With help for Spanish speakers and people with disabilities, the program also offers support for teens who are cyberbullied.

New 'Boystown' Comes Out in November: It won't be long before we're back in the passionate arms of the Mancini brothers and their rivals, the Ciancios. The fourth installment of "Boystown" is coming out Nov. 13. As you devour the new series, keep an eye out for cameos by real-life performers Chadwick Stadt, Whiskeys & Cherries, Amy Armstrong and Steve Grand.

Howard Brown Gets Federal Thumbs Up: Howard Brown Health Center has been providing health care and research for the LGBT community in Chicago since 1974. In August, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services elevated the center's status to a federally recognized and funded health care provider. The stamp of approval and accompanying $650,000 annual grant will help serve thousands more in the Chicago area, along with the 27,000 people the center already serves each year. The center also recently received a $300,000, three-year grant to continue health education for LGBT seniors.

Hamilton Principal An Awesome Fellow: James Gray, principal of Hamilton Elementary School, was one of 20 Chicago Public Schools leaders chosen for a yearlong fellowship. Delivered through the Northwestern University, the Chicago Principals Fellowship is designed to stimulate development among the city's top principals. The fellows were chosen from 60 candidates and will work with city and education leaders and principal advisory committees.

The Cubs and Wrigley Field are 95 percent owned by a trust established for the benefit of the family of Joe Ricketts, owner and CEO of DNAinfo.com. Joe Ricketts has no direct involvement in the management of the iconic team.
