6 Killed, 31 Hurt in Weekend Shootings, Police Say

CHICAGO — Six people are dead and 31 others were hurt from shootings around the city since Friday, police said.

A woman was killed and a man was wounded in a shooting in in Englewood Sunday morning, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

And a 15-year-old boy was critically hurt after being shot in University Village Sunday evening, Sedevic said.

• Most recently, around 2 a.m. Monday, a 38-year-old man was sitting in a parked car in the 3000 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue in Belmont Cragin when a man got out of a black SUV and shot at him, Sedevic said.

The man was brought to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said, with gunshot wounds in his left shoulder and the back of his head.

• About an hour earlier, Sedevic said, a 25-year-old man was shot multiple times in South Shore.

The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 7500 block of South Shore Drive when two men walked up and shot at him, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was in serious condition with gunshot wounds in his left arm, chest and both legs, Sedevic said.

• Around 8:45 p.m. Sunday night, a 25-year-old man was sitting in a car in the 7300 block of South Damen Avenue in West Englewood when a man shot at him from the sidewalk, Sedevic said.

The man drove himself to Jackson Park Hospital, Sedevic said, where he was in stable condition with gunshot wounds in both his legs.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• About 25 minutes earlier, an 18-year-old man was arguing with someone in the 4400 block of South Mozart Street in Brighton Park when the other person shot him, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Sedevic said, where he was in stable condition with gunshot wounds in his left leg and lower back.

Between Saturday morning and Sunday morning, Two people were killed and eight were wounded in shootings, police said.

Before that, three people were killed and 17 were hurt in shootings Friday and Saturday, police said.
