HYDE PARK — Police received a call of a body floating in the lake near 57th Street Beach, police said Thursday.

At 2:38 p.m., someone called police saying they spotted the corpse in the water, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

CPD sent its Marine Unit to investigate, Zala said.

The U.S. Coast Guard hasn't dispatched any boats to the site, but the area is "being treated as a crime scene," according to Coast Guard Officer Charles Wolfson.

On Friday, Zala said there was no body in the water, and morgue officials confirmed they had not received notice of death in the area.
