SOUTHPORT CORRIDOR — Despite putting the building up for sale, its owner said Dairy Queen will "probably" remain in its spot.
The mixed-use building, 3811 N. Southport Ave., is listed for $3.2 million. Owner Tom Romano Sr. hung a sign on the building's front advertising the asking price as of Tuesday.
Romano's son owns the Dairy Queen and would be willing to keep the "grill and chill" spot if his new landlord approves, Romano said. However, if the purchaser has a different vision for the building, the Romanos would be open to change, he said.
"Right now, it's up in the air, but Dairy Queen will probably wind up staying there," Romano told DNAinfo on Wednesday.
Dairy Queen franchises are independently owned and operated. The Southport location is the only DQ in Lakeview.
Prior to Dairy Queen, the ground-floor venue was home to Banana Leaf Thai Cuisine.
