HYDE PARK — The Hyde Park Youth Symphony is looking for new members and will open auditions for just four days on Aug. 28.

The symphony will hold auditions for players in the 2015-16 season on Aug. 28, Aug. 29, Sept. 3 and Sept. 10 on the top floor penthouse of the Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St.

The ensemble is looking for kids who can play flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, harp, French horn, trumpet, trombone or tuba.

The new season will be the symphony’s first in its new rehearsal space in the Logan Center overlooking Hyde Park.

It will be the first season under the direction of Matthew Sheppard, who also is the director of the University of Chicago Chamber Orchestra.

Those who want to join the symphony should be prepared to perform several scales, a solo and sightread a piece of music.

The symphony also is looking for piano, saxophone and classical guitar players to perform occasionally with the ensemble.
