BRIDGEPORT — Over the weekend, someone tagged the Valentine Boys & Girls Club.

When a club staffer showed up to unlock the doors at 3400 S. Emerald Ave. Sunday afternoon, she discovered graffiti on the building's side windows and free-standing book donation box.

It was gang graffiti, according to Theresa Donnelly, the club's aquatics director.

The prominent tag was an upside-down pitchfork, a sign used by the gang People Nation to disrespect its rival gang, Folk Nation.

By Monday afternoon, the tags has been removed with "graffiti blaster stuff," Donnelly said.

No one has been charged in the crime.

The club's west wall, facing the alley, has been a steady target for taggers, who leave marks "every other weekend," Donnelly said.

In the alley, you'll also find upside-down pitchforks tagged on city garbage cans.
