HYDE PARK — The director of the critically acclaimed “Dear White People” will be in Hyde Park Sunday for a screening of his film.

Writer and director Justin Simien will be on hand to talk about coming up with the film and navigating Hollywood to get it made after a 1 p.m. screening at the Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St.

The satiric comedy-drama follows Sam White, a mixed race film production major, as she confronts racist transgressions at a prestigious and mostly white university.

The screening is part of "gRACE: A Graceful Dialogue on Race,"  three days of events where people are invited to come together to dissect, empathize and re-imagine the stories of race.

The movie is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and is on a first-come-first-served basis.
