LINCOLN PARK — The menu at White Oak Tavern & Inn is about to change.

The Lincoln Park restaurant, 1200 W. Webster Ave., announced in a news release Wednesday that sous chef Scott Weisner, who has worked everywhere from Nico Osteria and Senza to Custom House Tavern, will take over as chef de cuisine.

Weisner plans to replace many of the dishes on the farm-driven menu so it reads "a bit more comforting, not as obscure," he said in the release.

Diners can expect more small plates and "mainstays" rather than dishes that rotate every couple of weeks.

The 29-year-old chef also plans to incorporate more protein and fish from both coasts, including meat from Slagel Family Farms, a popular purveyor among trendy restaurants across the city, according to Chicago Magazine. He also wants to include more hand-crafted pasta.

Fans of White Oak's old menu needn't worry. Some signature dishes, like the beef burger and stracciatella, will remain.

White Oak opened last December, serving Midwestern-inspired food and drink with an emphasis on craft cocktails, beers and small batch bourbons. It replaced the family-owned, 20-year-old John's Place restaurant.

Weisner is replacing John Asbaty, who is leaving to pursue another opportunity, according to the release.
