HYDE PARK — Dig that curly wig for a Wednesday night screening of “Annie” on the Midway Plaisance.
At dusk on Wednesday outside the Midway’s field house, 1130 Midway Plaisance, the University of Chicago will host the final movie in the park with a screening of “Annie.”
Viewers are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite characters from the movie to close out the season of outside movie screenings on the Midway.
Before anyone shaves their head and dons a bowtie and pinstripe suit, know that this is not the 1982 version with Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks, but the 2014 version of story of an orphan scooped up by a wealthy millionaire.
A tuxedo might be more appropriate for the version that features Jamie Foxx in the wealthy benefactor role as Will Stacks.
The movie is free, but the university is encouraging people to come with a can food to donate to the Comer Children’s Hospital’s food pantry.
The film is the last for the summer movies on the Midway, but the season is not entirely over for Hyde Park.
The DuSable Museum of African American History, 740 E. 56th Place, will host one more outdoor movie with an Aug. 15 showing of “Roll Bounce,” a 2005 coming-of-age comedy set in a jamming 1970s roller-skating rink.
All movies are free and begin at dusk.
