CANARYVILLE — It appears the renovations on Taylor-Lauridsen Park's ball fields are coming together.

Take a walk down the sidewalk running along the park, at 704 W. 42nd St., and you'll see fresh sod laid by landscapers earlier in the week.

Progress had been stalled due to rainy weather and sewer issues, according to Ald. Patrick Daley Thompson (11th), who updated residents on the project at a recent CAPS meeting at St. Gabriel Church.

The field improvement plans, announced by Chicago Park District officials and former Ald. James Balcer in March, included a sub-surface drainage system, scoreboard, crowning and new bleachers.

The improvement project cost more than $100,000, according to the Taylor-Lauridsen Park Advisory Council.
