CHICAGO — Taylor-Lauridsen Park field renovations were unveiled during a meeting last week in Bridgeport.

Chicago Park District officials and Ald. James Balcer (11th) gathered with community members Thursday to share details on the plans to upgrade the park's field, said Janet McCormick, a Taylor-Lauridsen Park Advisory Council member.

Members of the community were able to see renderings of the project, which is scheduled to start in mid-April, McCormick said.

She said the fields frequently flood.

"The field was unusable," she said. "Football games and softball tournaments had to be canceled because of the flooding."

The improvements to the field will include a sub-surface drainage system, scoreboard, crowning, and grading and installation of new bleachers, McCormick said.

The field renovations are expected to be completed by late July or early August.
