CHICAGO — Police say they've found the man who murdered Courtney Jackson, 36, and injured another man in an April Humboldt Park shooting.

Jamal D. Joiner, 20, of the 6000 block of South Eberhart Avenue in Woodlawn, is charged with one felony count of first degree murder and one felony count of attempted murder, police said in a statement Friday. He was arrested at his home Tuesday.

Around 10:50 p.m. on April 17, Jackson was sitting in the passenger seat of a car with a 35-year-old man in the 1100 block of North Springfield Avenue when someone walked up and fired shots in their direction, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

Jackson was shot in his chest and the 35-year-old was shot in his neck. Jackson was pronounced dead about 2.5 hours later, officials said.

Jackson's mother, Jean Ray, said that Jackson was a loving son who texted her to say good morning every day. He was also the father of three children and lived in Humboldt Park with his girlfriend, she told DNAinfo Chicago in April shortly after the shooting.
