Three Dead, 10 Wounded in Shootings Since Friday Night

CHICAGO — Three people were killed and 10 were wounded by gun violence since Friday evening, police said.

One man is dead and two others are seriously hurt after a shooting in South Austin early Saturday morning, according to Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

At about 2:15 a.m., a man died in Englewood after being shot while stopped at a red light.

On Friday night, a 25-year-old man died after being found with a gunshot wound on a sidewalk in Grand Crossing.

Most recently, at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, a man was shot in his arm in Auburn Gresham, Pacheco said.

The man, 30, was stopped at a red light on the 1400 block of West 79th Street when a dark minivan pulled alongside him and someone fired shots out the window, Pacheco said. The man drove himself to Saint Bernard Hospital and he was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he's now in stable condition, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said, and police are investigating. Police said the victim is a documented gang member.

At about 1:15 a.m., a 39-year-old man was shot in his leg at a party in Washington Heights, Pacheco said.

The man was standing in a large crowd at an outdoor gathering on the 9900 block of South Lowe Avenue, Pacheco said, when three men got out of a vehicle and fired shots.

The man was brought to Roseland Hospital where he's being in stable condition, Pacheco said. 

No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said, and police are investigating.

About 15 minutes earlier, a 21-year-old man was shot in his leg in Roseland, Pacheco said.

The man was walking on the 11400 block of South Normal Avenue when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Pacheco said. A friend brought the man to Ingalls Hospital, where he's now in stable condition, Pacheco said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

At around 12:10 a.m., a 22-year-old man was sitting in a parked van on the 5100 block of West Division Street in Austin when a dark-colored sedan pulled up alongside him and someone inside fired shots, Pacheco said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he's now in stable condition after being shot in his leg and his lower back, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said, and police are investigating.

Around 11:25 p.m. Friday night, two men were standing with a group of people in Auburn Gresham when a fight broke out and they were shot, Pacheco said.

One of the men, 24, was shot in his leg, and the other, 22, was shot in his forehead, Pacheco said. Both men were taken to Christ Memorial Hospital, Pacheco said, where they're both in stable condition.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said, and police are investigating.

Five minutes earlier, a 31-year-old woman was walking on the 700 block of South Homan Avenue in North Lawndale when two men jumped out of a blue sedan and shot at her, Pacheco said. Afterward the men got back into the sedan and fled west on Lexington Street, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said, and police are investigating.

Police said the woman is a documented gang member.

At about 7:15 p.m. Friday evening a 20-year-old man was walking on the 8330 block of South Pulaski Avenue in Ashburn when someone shot at him from an alley, Pacheco said, hitting him in his upper torso.

The man was taken to Christ Memorial Hospital, Pacheco said, where he's now in stable condition. 

No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said.
