ALBANY PARK — It sort of goes without saying that to learn how to fix bikes, you need bikes to fix.
Bikes 'N' Roses, which trains youth in bike repair, is hosting a donation drive 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, in the parking lot adjacent to 3403 W. Lawrence Ave.
Bring in that old bike that's been collecting dust in your basement or garage, and BNR will put it to use, teaching youth maintenance and repair skills. They'll even accept bike parts and accessories, if you've got a seat, tire, pump, etc. you don't need anymore.
Stick around and enjoy games, prizes and entertainment courtesy of CHIRP Radio.
BNR was founded in 2011 as an after-school program under the umbrella of the Albany Park Neighborhood Council (now called Communities United) and is striving to become a self-sufficient bike shop. It's still raising funds to replace $276,000 in grant money cut in January by Gov. Bruce Rauner.
