CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man is dead, and two other people were wounded in a shooting early Sunday in Albany Park, police said.
Around 2:30 a.m., the man, a 26-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy, were sitting inside a van in an alley of the 4400 block of North Kimball Avenue, when a man approached on foot and opened fire, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.
The man was shot multiple times and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, Alfaro said. Cook County Medical Examiner's office later identified him as Jeremy Spivey, of the 4700 block of West Belmont Avenue, adding that he was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:03 a.m.
The teenager was shot in his leg and also taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition had stabilized. The woman was shot in her finger and taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, Alfaro said.
According to police, all three were documented gang members.
