HYDE PARK — Nichols Park is getting ready for 10 days of free music, starting with a July 12 salsa concert.

The park has hosted free summer concerts for more than 20 years at 4 p.m. on Sundays. This year's series runs through Sept. 13 next to the field house at 1355 E. 53rd St.

The series starts with Popo Santiago playing salsa on July 12 and then brings back a Hyde Park favorite on July 19: Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues with special guest Billy Flynn.

“Billy Flynn has appeared at almost all of our concerts,” said Stephanie Franklin, president of the Nichols Park Advisory Council and one of the organizers.

Flynn has played every year for at least the last decade, Franklin said.

From bluegrass to hip-hop, no genre of music repeats for the whole summer run.

The full schedule includes:

• July 12, Popo Santiago, salsa

• July 19, Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues featuring Billy Flynn, blues

• July 26, The O’My’s, soul

• Aug. 2, Matthew Santos, folk

• Aug. 9, Sean and Charlie, Celtic

• Aug. 16, Akasha featuring Fada Dougou, reggae

• Aug. 23, The Ivorys, rock

• Aug. 30, The Bourbon Aristocracy, bluegrass

• Sept. 6, Get Back, Beatles tribute band

• Sept. 13, Sidewalk Chalk with Zara Mela, hip-hop, funk and soul
