NORWOOD PARK — Children can deck out their bicycles in red, white and blue to celebrate Independence Day a little early this year in Oriole Park, organizers said.

The annual bicycle parade organized by the Oriole Park Community Club will step off at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the north end of Oriole Park at 7500 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., organizers said.

The holiday is being observed Friday, and holding the parade a day early will allow families to travel during the weekend, organizers said.

Children of all ages are encouraged to decorate their bicycles in patriotic colors and ride the parade route, which will head west on Bryn Mawr Avenue to Oriole Avenue before heading south to Berwyn Avenue and finally north and east on Olcott Avenue back to Oriole Park, organizers said.

Participants will get prizes, and parents and residents are invited to march along side the bicycles.

Revolutionary War re-enactors are expected to march in the parade, along with local Boy Scout troops, organizers said.

The Oriole Park Elementary School Band is scheduled to perform, organizers said.
