CHICAGO — A 20-year-old woman is dead and two men were hospitalized following a stabbing in Lincoln Square Monday afternoon, officials said.
According to the Tribune, the fight stemmed from a Facebook fight involving a gang conflict.
Around 3:30 p.m., the woman was with a group in an alley in the 2100 block of West Sunnyside Avenue when a fight broke out between two people. When she tried to intervene she was stabbed by a 19-year-old man, the Tribune reported.
The woman died on her way to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center after the stabbing, said Jeff Lyle, a fire department spokesman.
A 21-year-old man was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital with cuts on his face, police said. Those injuries are not life-threatening, Lyle said.
A 19-year-old man was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition is unknown, according to Lyle.
A 19-year-old man called police from an "L" station and reported the stabbing and that he had "defended himself." He met police at the Rogers Park District station badly beaten and covered in blood. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital, according to the Tribune.
The incident followed what was likely a domestic-related fight, police said. Police are questioning a person of interest.

Police cordoned off the section of the street with yellow tape blocking off an alley where markers were set down and a bloody shirt remained on the ground.
"This kind of thing doesn't happen here," said Mary Corrado, 59, who has been living in Lincoln Square for 30 years.
Other residents in the normally quiet block were also shocked by the stabbing.
"I call [Lincoln Square] Pleasantville," said Meredith Reynolds, 30, who has lived in the neighborhood for five years. "I can't believe it."
Adara Bowen, 34, echoed the concern of her neighbors.
"Oh my God, I walk my 2-year-old son to and from preschool down this block every day," Bowen said. "This is terrible."
Christine Perri, who has lived in the neighborhood for 27 years, called the stabbing unbelievable.
"This is awful," Perri said. "I consider it a safe neighborhood, but then again a few blocks away the mayor's son was mugged so I guess you can't be completely safe anywhere."
