RAVENSWOOD — Drivers will want to steer clear of Montrose Avenue and Paulina Street this week as the intersection will be closed for sewer work.
Crews are replacing the sewer under Paulina from Cullom to Montrose avenues. To connect this pipe to the main line at Montrose, workers will need to completely close the Paulina/Montrose intersection, from 9 a.m. Wednesday through 4 p.m. Friday.
Pedestrian access will be maintained, but auto traffic will be diverted via Damen, Lawrence and Ashland avenues.
The sewer under this stretch of Paulina dates back to 1889.
The Department of Water Management is scheduled to replace more than 110 miles of water and sewer mains throughout Chicago in 2015.
