CHICAGO — Countless Blackhawks fans were frustrated as free tickets to the team's Stanley Cup championship rally Thursday sold out in just 15 minutes, with the collective effort of thousands of Hawks fans sending the Ticketmaster website into oblivion.

But before you resort to spending $25-150 on scalped (possibly fake) tickets on Craigslist, hear us out.

Or at least listen to David Kennedy, the mastermind behind the Blackhawks parade and rally and 20-year veteran of planning citywide celebrations.

While Kennedy said he’s no expert in “free” electronic tickets, he told DNAinfo Chicago that he thought some fans might have hopped online to score four free tickets to put in a frame as a souvenirs. He feared they would not show up to rally and leave other fans locked out of the stadium.

“So, we’re going to monitor it and see if we have x-amount of tickets that aren’t being redeemed, and we’re going to have to work with [Soldier Field staff] to pull some people in who don’t have tickets,” he said.

That's right, readers. Even without the coveted "free" ticket to the rally, if you're at Soldier Field Thursday morning and there's a lot of no-shows, and you look particularly worthy near or at the doors, you may be let in to see the celebration of the lifetime.
