JEFFERSON PARK — Chicago Police officers will hit the streets of Jefferson Park Friday night — and residents are invited to come along.

The "positive loitering" event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Jefferson Park branch of the Chicago Public Library, 5363 W. Lawrence Ave., with a brief discussion of crime in Jefferson Park and issues surrounding the Jefferson Park Transit Center.

Jefferson Park Police District Cmdr. Roger Bay, who took over the Jefferson Park Police District a year ago, will hold an outdoor roll call at the transit center, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., before heading to Jefferson Memorial Park, 4822 N. Long Ave.

"People don't get enough chances to talk to the police on a one-on-one basis," Bay said.
