Seven Shot on South Side Since Monday Morning

CHICAGO — Seven people have been wounded in shootings on the South Side since Monday morning.

Most recently, a 49-year-old man was shot in Washington Park around 2:10 a.m.

Another 49-year-old man was shot in Avalon Park. Around 1:05 a.m., police found the man lying on the ground in the 8000 block of South Maryland Avenue with gunshot wounds in his side and chest, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was uncooperative with police, but was taken to Christ Hospital in fair condition, Sedevic said.

Around 11 p.m., a 28-year-old man was in a car in the 3900 block of South Prairie Avenue in Bronzeville when someone opened fire from a van. The man got out of the car and ran, but was shot in his foot, Sedevic said.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition, Sedevic said.

In Chatham, a 36-year-old man and 19-year-old man were shot when two men in hoodies came out of an alley in the 700 block of East 92nd Street and opened fire around 6:40 p.m. Monday, Sedevic said.

The 36-year-old man was shot in his left arm and left leg. He was taken to Christ in serious condition, Sedevic said.

The 19-year-old man was shot in his abdomen and also listed in serious condition at Christ, Sedevic said.

Around 3:45 p.m., a 22-year-old man was standing in the 2100 block of West 68th Place in Englewood when some opened fire from a gray car, Sedevic said.

The man was shot in his chest and leg. He was taken to Christ in serious condition, Sedevic said.

Around 11:30 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in his leg while walking on the sidewalk in the 11900 block of South LaSalle Street in West Pullman, Sedevic said.

He was also taken to Christ in good condition, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings.
