Mysterious 'Dirty's Way' Street Sign in Logan Square Removed By City

By Darryl Holliday | June 15, 2015 8:24am

LOGAN SQUARE — What is Dirty’s Way? Or, what was it?

It’s a question as old as 2013, when photos of the street sign began popping up online. But, on Friday, the honorary “Dirty’s Way” was taken down from the corner of Kedzie Ave. and Emmett St. in Logan Square.

City crews removed Dirty's Way June 12, according to one Logan Square resident who snapped one last photo before the sign was taken down. The Chicago Department of Transportation did not immediately return a request for comment — leaving some unanswered questions:

1. Who is Dirty?

2. Was “Dirty’s Way” a fake and/or prank sign as some have speculated?

3. If you know the story behing this sign why haven’t you posted the answer yet?
