Bey or Tay? Downtown Likes Both, Jukebox Analysis Shows

DOWNTOWN — Downtown is where people from all over the city (and suburbs) come together, and the same apparently applies to music taste. 

A look at the top song requests at jukeboxes in Downtown zip codes reveals a wide array of artists spanning several decades and genres. DNAinfo Chicago got its details from Touchtunes, a prevalent digital jukebox company, that provided a year of data from May 1, 2014 to April 30 that we broke down by zip code.

The data shows contemporary pop stars like Pharrell, Beyonce and Taylor Swift are top dogs in some Downtown areas, but country acts George Strait and Marshall Tucker Band rule the 60602 zip code, which covers the State Street Macy's and other Loop landmarks. Elsewhere, River North and Streeterville never stopped believing in Journey.
