Man Dies After Walking Into Traffic in the Loop, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 37-year-old man died after walking into oncoming traffic Saturday afternoon in the Loop, police said.

At 12:40 p.m., the man walked into traffic in the 1100 block of South Columbus Drive near Grant Park, said Officer Stacey Cooper, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Richard Hill, of Bellwood, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:07 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The driver remained on the scene, and no citations had been issued as of Sunday morning.

The Major Accidents Unit is investigating, police said.
