CHICAGO — One person was killed and 11 others wounded in violence across the city since Thursday afternoon, police said.

In Burnside, a teen was found lying on the street with a gunshot wound in his head, and in Lincoln Square, two people were stabbed near Western Brown Line station around 4:30 p.m.

Most recently, a 40-year-old woman was shot several times in Chicago Lawn early Friday morning.

Around 2:07 a.m., the woman was driving in the 7200 block of South Artesian Avenue when she heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The woman was shot multiple times, and she drove herself to Holy Cross Hospital where she was listed in fair condition, Sedevic said.

• Around 1:05 a.m., a 23-year-old man was outside in the 5700 block of South Wolcott Avenue in West Englewood when a man walked up and fired shots. The man was shot in his leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he was listed in fair condition, Sedevic said.

• Five minutes before midnight, a 27-year-old man was outside in the 9200 block of South Laflin Street in Washington Heights when someone walked up and fired shots in his direction before running away, Sedevic said.

The 27-year-old was shot in his face and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, Sedevic said.

• At 11:30 p.m., a 31-year-old man was walking in the 200 block of West Pershing Road In Bronzeville when a gray van approached and someone inside fired shots in his direction before driving away, Sedevic said.

The man was shot in his leg and listed in fair condition at Stroger Hospital, Sedevic said.

• Five minutes later, a 29-year-old man was sitting in his car in the 2800 block of West Roosevelt Road in North Lawndale when another car pulled up and someone inside fired shots at 11:25 p.m., Sedevic said.

The man was shot several times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Sedevic said.

• At 4:50 p.m., two men, ages 28 and 20, were sitting outside in the 7800 block of South Drexel Avenue in Greater Grand Crossing when a man walked up and fired shots, Sedevic said.

The 28-year-old was shot in his head and taken to Stroger in critical condition. The 20-year-old was shot in his buttocks and also taken to Stroger where he was listed in fair condition, Sedevic said.

• Around 1:18 p.m., two men, ages 32 and 20 were walking in the 3900 block of South Prairie Avenue in Bronzeville when a man walked up and fired shots, Sedevic said.

Both men were taken to Mercy Hospital. The 32-year-old was shot in his forearm, and was treated and released. The 20-year-old was shot in his shoulder and listed in fair condition, police said.

According to police, both men are documented gang members and the shooting appears to be gang-related.
