HYDE PARK — Six South Side museums are keeping their doors open into the evening for the Summer Nights museum series.

The six museums that are a part of the Museum Campus South, the DuSable Museum of African American History, the Oriental Institute, the Renaissance Society, the Logan Center for the Arts, the Robie House and the Smart Museum of Art, will host evening events June through September.

Among the months of events are free movies on the lawn at DuSable Museum, 740 E. 56th Place.

The movies kick off at dusk on June 20 with the 2104 rendition of “Annie” starring Quvenzhané Wallis, Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. Other films include “Once Upon a Time … When We Were Colored” on July 18 and “Roll Bounce” on Aug. 15.

All museums will host evening events, and if guests visit five by the end of the year, they will get a free Museum Campus South mug.

Visiting the Oriental Institute, 1155 E. 58th St., for drinks from Great Lakes Brewery and a stroll through the special exhibit “A Cosmopolitan City: Muslims, Christians and Jews in Old Cairo” might be a good start. Tickets are $15, with discounts for members and students.

Events can be found on each museum’s website and on culturecoast.org.
