LINCOLN SQUARE — What's bad for Maifest is turning out to be good for sausage lovers.
The weekend's rainy and unseasonably cold weather kept folks away from the annual fest in droves, which has translated into lots of leftover food.
DANK Haus has pounds of sausage, gallons of mustard and mountains of desserts for sale this week — enough to throw your own German-themed bash next weekend minus the thousands of strangers.
Here's what's up for grabs:
Meat, fully cooked and vacuum sealed: five-pound packs of bratwurst or thuringer for $35; five-pound packs of landjäger dried sausage, $45; seven-pound leberkäse beef/pork loaf, $45.
A gallon of dusseldorf mustard for $6.
Patty Wetli says DANK Haus relies on Maifest for much of their budget:
Desserts: $35 for a half sheet of bienenstich custard-topped cake, apple cake or brownie.
