Ashburn Fire Critically Injures Man, Considered Suspicious, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police are investigating a suspicious fire early Thursday morning that left a man in critical condition in Ashburn.

The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Columbus Avenue, said Cmdr. Frank Velez, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

A man in his 60s was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Velez said.

No other injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished quickly, Velez said.

The Chicago Police Arson Unit was investigating the fire as suspicious, police said.
