LOGAN SQUARE — If you frequent any of the growing number of shops and restaurants along Armitage Avenue in Logan Square, you’ve probably noticed this billboard bearing good news.

"Summer is Coming," it says — thanks to Parson’s Chicken and Fish, 2952 W. Armitage Ave., which is kicking off an expected warm weekend weather with a two-year anniversary party on the outdoor patio Friday, May 15.

Starting at 3 p.m., DJ Dave Mata of Soul Summit will be spinning funk and soul, Boulevard Bikes will providing free safety checks, and the bar will be have $2 Modelos and $4 Michelada specials on deck.

That's in addition to raffles, giveaways and a steady supply of Parson's Negroni Slushy.

A canopy expansion after last year's patio season will give the often-crowded restaurant more room in time for summer 2015, and a second canopy phase could be in the works for Parson's back patio, Land and Sea Dept. partner Peter Toalson said late last year.

“Kick off patio season right and come celebrate two years of chooglin' with us,” an announcement for the weekend event read, invoking the restaurant’s unofficial #chooglin’ motto — because you gotta "keep on, just keep on, keep on — chooglin'."
