CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy was seriously wounded in West Englewood Thursday afternoon, police said.

Around 12:05 p.m., the teenager was standing outside in the 6700 block of South Normal Boulevard when he was approached by two armed men who fired shots in his direction, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The boy, who is a documented gang member, was shot in the back of his neck and taken to John H. Stroger Hospital in serious condition, a police source said.
