ENGLEWOOD — Spike Lee’s new Chicago-based film “Chiraq” is holding a casting call on Saturday.

4Star Casting is casting for background performers only, according to its Facebook page. The casting agency isn’t handling the main casting. General submissions for extras are no longer being accepted for the Saturday event happening at St. Sabina Academy, 7801 S. Throop St., from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Those individuals will be directed to attend the open call.

The agency is seeking to hire hundreds of local talent, male and female, all ethnicities, between the ages of 7 and 75.

Potential film dates are May 19-July 10, and the filming will happen in Englewood and surrounding neighborhoods. Participants are asked to bring a candid photo, 4x6 in size, and write their name, phone number and email address on the back. Everyone 16 and older must bring a current Illinois-issued driver’s license or state ID. Those under 16 must have a work permit.
