LINCOLN SQUARE — Even a pair of championship eaters failed to anticipate how much food Lincoln Square diners could consume.

When Taco in a Bag opened Wednesday, owners Pat Bertoletti and Tim Brown thought they had enough food to carry them through their first weekend.

Turned out, they barely had enough to get through the first day.

"We were slammed. We sold out of lots of stuff. We might have f***ed up some tacos. Sorry," the team posted to Facebook.

The restaurant, 4603 N. Lincoln Ave., temporarily closed Thursday afternoon so Bertoletti, who preps all the menu items, could go grocery shopping and catch up on slicing and dicing ingredients and mixing sauces, staff told DNAinfo.

"Thanks so much for eating all the food we made for 3 days in 8hrs. Taking a short break. Open at 6pm," Taco in a Bag posted Thursday on Twitter.

Patrons may or may not get their walking tacos in an actual Taco in a Bag-branded bag, which the restaurant also blew through on Wednesday.

Signs posted inside the restaurant asked for customers' patience and forgiveness while staff worked out opening week kinks.

"Please keep in mind that we are still working out how to get around our new space and how to cope with all the LOVE that you are showing us," read the sign.

"We are working on getting it right!"
