CHICAGO — A man was hospitalized after being shot early Saturday in Irving Park, police said.

Around 1:30 a.m., a 39-year-old man was walking in the 3900 block of West Addison Street when a light-colored SUV drove up and fired shots, striking the man in his leg, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition had stabilized, Sedevic said.

According to police, the man is a documented gang member.
