WRIGLEYVILLE — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Cubs owner Tom Ricketts — were they, as the saying goes, identical twins separated at birth?
The photo here shows Cruz, the first Republican candidate in the 2016 presidential race, on the left. Ricketts is pictured on the right. Wait ... the left. No, sorry, it's definitely the right.
After Cruz's Monday announcement that he would run for president, several people took to Twitter to note the resemblance.

Has anyone seen Tom Ricketts and Ted Cruz in the same room together?

But Ricketts put the doppelgänger conspiracy theories to rest on Wednesday, when he addressed the question after a presentation for City Club Chicago: "I've never met Ted Cruz. I think my family knows him pretty well. A few people sent me those pictures yesterday. It's kind of funny."
The Cubs and Wrigley Field are 95 percent owned by a trust established for the benefit of the family of Joe Ricketts, owner and CEO of DNAinfo.com. Joe Ricketts has no direct involvement in the management of the team.
