SOLDIER FIELD — Here's another reason to see the Grateful Dead this summer at Soldier Field: a chance to be in a Martin Scorsese movie.
The Academy Award-winning director will film the band's "Fare Thee Well" shows over Fourth of July weekend in Chicago, The Daily Beast reports.
The "Goodfellas" and "Wolf of Wall Street" director is teaming up with filmmaker Amir Bar-Lev to shoot a documentary on the psychedelic band as it celebrates its 50th anniversary highlighted by the farewell shows in Chicago. Scorsese has plenty of practice filming bands, producing documentaries about the Band, George Harrison and the Rolling Stones, among others.
Those without tickets may need to start pinching pennies, with resold tickets to the shows fetching an average of $952 on one website.
