CHICAGO — Sorry kids, summer break is delayed once again.

CPS announced Friday that two extra days will be tacked on to the end of the 2014-2015 school years as a result of two cold-weather cancellations last month.

To ensure students don't miss out on instructional days, class will be in session on June 18, which was scheduled as the first day of summer break, and June 19, CPS said Friday.

“We highly value each day of classroom instruction that our students receive, which is why any missed days are rescheduled,” said Barbara Byrd-Bennett, CEO of Chicago Public Schools. “The academic calendar has been updated to allow for students to receive the full education and development time that is needed to have a fully successful school year.”

Summer break will begin after class on June 19. The changes will not effect graduation schedules or the start of summer school, CPS said.
