SAUGANASH — A four-course dinner to raise money to fund micro loans to women around the world will take place from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Whole Foods Sauganash is hosting the dinner — complete with wine and beer pairings and music — at North Branch Arts, 5421 W. Devon Ave., to raise money for the chain's Whole Planet Foundation, organizers said.

Admission for one to the second annual Travel the World Benefit Dinner is a $40 donation to the foundation, or $70 for two, organizers said.

The menu includes a Mediterranean platter and assorted chicken skewers, Tom Kha Kai coconut soup with shrimp and cilantro oil, Argentinean short rib with blue cheese root vegetable puree, fermented beets and forest mushrooms.

Vegetarian meals will also be available on request.

The Whole Planet Foundation provides grants to micro finance institutions in Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East, who in turn develop and offer micro enterprise loan programs, training and other financial services to the self-employed poor.
