CHICAGO— A man's arm was severed in a work accident in Bridgeport on Monday, police said.

At 11:20 a.m., the 40-year-old man was working in the 400 block of West 26th Street when his left arm was accidentally severed at the shoulder, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said.
