LINCOLN SQUARE — The work of artists from Germany and the United States will be displayed side by side in the newest exhibit mounted by DANK Haus, with an aim of building a cultural bridge between the two countries.

The "Kulturbrücke" exhibit opens Saturday in DANK's Scharpenberg Gallery and runs through March 21. It features works by more than 50 poets, painters, dancers and sculptors, matching up artists with similar sensibilities to demonstrate commonalities and encourage cross-cultural collaborations between Germany and the United States.

Throughout the show's run, DANK Haus will host a series of events — music, dance and theater — designed to provoke dialog surrounding the exhibit. Events will be conducted in English and German.

The public is invited to a free opening reception from 6-10 p.m. Saturday on the fourth floor of DANK Haus, 4740 N. Western Ave. A performance by artists Ursula Gallenkamp and Kao Ra Zen is set for 8 p.m.
