North Side Burglaries Lead Police To Warn Residents

CHICAGO — Police cautioned residents after a string of burglaries in Irving Park, Albany Park and Portage Park.

In four of the burglaries, a vehicle is used to force open an overhead garage door before someone takes items from the garage. In two other cases, the overhead garage door was damaged but nothing was taken, police said.

The most recent incident occurred between 11 p.m. Sunday and 4 a.m. Monday in the 3900 block of North Kimball Avenue. The other burglaries occurred between 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of North Central Park Avenue, between midnight and 6:35 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 3800 block of North Lawndale Ave.,between 5:45 p.m. Jan. 15 and 1:30 a.m. Jan. 16 in the 3500 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue, and 11:52 p.m. Jan. 13 in the 4900 block of North Tripp Avenue, police said.

Police released no description of the burglars, but during one of the incidents a black minivan was seen driving away from the scene, police said.
