ROSCOE VILLAGE — Ed Sheeran's latest single is sitting at No. 2 on Billboard's pop chart, Taylor Swift's his BFF and he closed the London Olympics playing to a packed Wembley Stadium.
How does the ginger-haired singer/songwriter top himself? With a free concert at Lane Tech High School.
Maybe.
The school is currently among the top 25 vote-getters in a contest to win not only a free performance from Sheeran, but also a $10,000 music department grant.
Voting closes at midnight Friday and you can help Lane Tech boost its chances.
Anyone over the age of 13 can cast a vote (click here), and then earn extra points by Tweeting about the contest.
Ticketing for the concert, according to the contest's rules, will be determined by the event's sponsors after the winner has been decided and its administrators have been consulted. Attendance at the school and/or participation in the voting may be factors.
C'mon Chicago, if there's one thing we know how to do, it's stuff a ballot box.
