Rally For Obama Library To Be Held in Washington Park Saturday

 The crowd at a Park District hearing was overwhelmingly supportive of the Obama library locating on the South Side, but was split over using parkland.  Washington Park residents will hold a pep rally Saturday to boost the neighborhood's shot at winning the library.

HYDE PARK — Washington Park residents will hold a pep rally Saturday in support of bringing the Barack Obama Presidential Library to the the neighborhood.

Starting at noon at Carter Elementary School, 5740 S. Michigan Ave., neighborhood politicians, political leaders and youth organizations say they hope to encourage the president to choose the University of Chicago-proposal to put the library in the neighborhood.

The event will feature live music, free food and a host of speakers to rally support for the library.
